Ruth Brownlee

Ruth Brownlee was born in West Lothian, Scotland in 1972 and graduated from Edinburgh College of Art with a BA Hons in Drawing & Painting/Tapestry in 1994. In 1998 she moved to Shetland to concentrate on her painting. Through her work she explores the rugged, dramatic environment of Shetland, interpreting the changing light, moods and atmosphere of its seas and coastlines.

Ruth Brownlee has work in numerous private collections throughout the UK, Ireland, USA, Norway, Sweden, Europe, Hong Kong and New Zealand. Her paintings can also be found in public collections at the Shetland Museum, Lerwick and the Fleming Wyfold Collection, London.

A multi-award winning artist, Ruth Brownlee now exhibits extensively at leading galleries throughout the UK and Norway.
